Ahead of being inaugurated as US President

Gealena — Ahead of Being Inaugurated as US President. The US President-elect, Joe Biden, became emotional while attending a brief farewell ceremony in his native Delaware. Tuesday (19/1/2021), before heading to Washington DC for his inauguration.

He seemed to hold back tears as he reminisced about his long trip to the White House.

Biden thanked friends and family who had gathered to take him to the US capital.

“When I die, Delaware will be engraved on my heart,”
said Biden in a voice trembling with emotion

“This area (Delaware) has a very personal impression for us (the Biden family). That our next trip to Washington starts here, a place that gives us the best sense of ourselves as Americans,” he said.

Biden was a senator from Delaware for more than three decades. He also failed to run for president twice before winning the post in November 2020.

He also remembers his late son, Beau Biden, who served as attorney general for Delaware from January 2007 to January 2015. Beau died on May 30, 2015, of brain cancer.

During his farewell Inaugurated as US President ceremony, Biden expressed the regret he currently feels. That Beau was no longer in Delaware to go with him — or simply let him go to Washington DC. “I am truly honored to be the next president and commander-in-chief of you (the people of Delaware),” said Biden.

After a farewell ceremony in Delaware, Biden immediately flew to Washington DC to attend the Lincoln Memorial for victims of Covid-19. He will spend the night at Blair House, the official visa for the US president, before being sworn in on Wednesday (20/1/2021) local time, and moving to the White House.
